Lactose Intolerance Theory
After doing some research I have discovered something about my being lactose intolerant. Apparently I am lacking the enzyme "lactase", which is required to digest milk. This obviously is true for anyone else suffering from the issue as well. What's so interesting is that in ancient times, most mammals only required milk when they were infants, for nourishment. After this nursing period came to an end, so did the need for milk, and it was not incorporated into their diet any longer. As a result, "lactase" stopped being produced. Today however, humans generally continue to drink milk into adulthood, as it is used commonly used in many different combinations of food dishes. From what I have learned, apparantly a large percentage of the world population has evolved to better cater to their need for milk in daily life by continuing to produce "lactase" from infancy into adulthood. I however, like my ancient ancestors, do not. This means that I am a bit of a cavewoman when it comes to my digestive system. I, and the others like me with lactose intolerance, are not fully evolved! I ARE LIKE MONKEY! And I think I'll just stick to bananas for my tummy's sake.
